HDFC Bank

The Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC) received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to set up a bank in the private sector in 1994.HDFC Bank commenced operations as a Scheduled Commercial Bank in January 1995. The bank's American Depository Shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the symbol "HDB".

The Bank at present has an enviable network of over 343 branches spread over 174 cities across the country. All branches are linked on an online real-time basis. Customers in 90 locations are also serviced through PhoneBanking. The Bank also has a network of over 900 networked ATMs across India.

The authorised capital of HDFC Bank is Rs.450 crore.
